He is a member of the board of Addiction Medicine at Lausanne University Hospital and directs the WHO Collaborating Centre for innovation in the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders and behavioural addictions. Among his current research interests are digital well-being\, problematic smartphone and social media use\, and the design and evaluation of digital and AI-supported tools for mental health.\n\n\n\nModerator:\nProfessor Guandong Xu\nChair Professor of Artificial Intelligence\,\nAssistant Vice President (AI and Education Innovation)\,\nDirector of University Research Facility of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence\,\nThe Education University of Hong Kong\n\n\nAbstract:\nSmartphones\, apps and social media now mediate how young people learn\, connect and pay attention\, and are where they turn for support with mental health and everyday difficulties — even as some patterns of use undermine well-being. Taking digital well-being as its case\, this talk traces how psychoeducation has evolved in response. It revisits digital well-being as more than the absence of digital ill-being\, drawing on recent work clarifying which of its dimensions matter most\, then reviews today’s mHealth applications and psychoeducational supports.
