Launch of AIREA International Competition on Artificial Intelligence in Education 2025 cum the 2nd AI and Education Forum of AIREA

[22 November 2024, Hong Kong] — The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) was excited to announce the launch of the International Competition on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education 2025 (the Competition) under the initiative of the Artificial Intelligence Research and Education Alliance (AIREA) on 22 November 2024. Building on the success of the 1st forum in September, the 2nd AI and Education Forum of AIREA was held, featuring distinguished guest speakers from academia and industry of Mainland China, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Sweden and Qatar. This forum continuously showcased significant advancements and opportunities for AI integration in education and related research, while fostering collaboration and innovation.
This upcoming Competition invites students, educators, learners, researchers, and industry professionals to showcase their AI-based solutions, address key challenges, and unlock opportunities in education. The Competition will feature three categories: School Category, Higher Education Category, Open Category. It is open to both individuals and teams. In School Category, participants are required to demonstrate their computational thinking, AI literacy, and ability to select appropriate tools and algorithms to address identified problems in one of four areas: School, Family, Community, or Subject-learning. In Higher Education Category and Open Category, participants should focus on the theme of Generative AI for teaching, learning, and education. Submissions can fall into one of three streams: 1) identifying an educational problem and proposing a solution; 2) identifying an educational problem and proposing a prototype solution; or 3) identifying an educational problem, presenting a prototype, and providing a comprehensive solution. Entries will be evaluated based on criteria including problem identification and relevance to education, feasibility and functionality, technical implementation and performance, innovation and creativity, scalability and sustainability, and social impact and responsibility.
