AI-Powered Career & Education Pathway Planner
Students/graduates unsure about their future career path. Currently, there are platforms that attempt to solve this issue, such as Linkedin, MySkillFuture website, career advisors (in school), PathMatch and more. However, most of these do not fully integrate all your data like GPA, coursework, interests, personality, values, time constraints, location preferences, etc. For example, in Singapore, MySkillsFuture is a platform many Singaporean youth use. Despite the popularity, this platform has numerous flaws. First, the personality quizzes are way too long winded and unnecessary. Additionally, the career choices are very messy, there are numerous quizzes which give different results. The system does not compile all your data together and give you a direct opportunity choice. It also does not use your past education and does not show you what future education you can pursue. Thus, we want to make an even improved version, with an AI implemented platform, that allows students and graduates worldwide to be able to find a good career and education path. Additionally, most students would still be unsure about which career pathway suits them the best, as they lack experience and exposure to how they would work in that occupation.
While personality and behavioural insights are valuable and significant, collecting such data must respect user privacy. Our proposed solution addresses this by allowing students to selectively input their own academic and interest data, empowering them to explore potential pathways without compromising privacy. If users do not allow any data to be collected or inputted at all, even manually, then the AI system would face serious limitations, such as lack of personalisation.
Our solution is an app that allows anyone to have a personalised career pathway and allows students to discover their aspirations and future career options clearly. Users will have to input or approve access to relevant data, such as academic records, exam scores, interests, skills, personality traits, such as their MBTI, and location preferences. With user consent, the app can integrate data from educational bodies such as the Ministry Of Education (MOE), enhancing its ability to generate more accurate recommendations on different career paths, job scope, majors, and which school is the most suitable for them to further their education at. Each recommended pathway and career will include information, such as the cost, location, entry requirements for the learning institution, which learning institution is the most suitable, and necessary skills, such as critical thinking and adaptive thinking. A dynamic mindmap visualisation will help and allow users to easily explore their current profile and statics, and their future options interactively. The platform considers important factors such as resilience, job stability and predicted future career trends.
Additionally, teachers would be able to access real-time dashboards and statistics to track the student's development, allowing the teacher to support their journey to their desired pathway.
The proposed solution is the best solution as it provides the user with a fully personalised, data-driven pathway for each of them, which current platforms lack. Instead of only offering broad, generic suggestions, our app uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze the users' academic scores, interests, skills and personality traits using descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analysis, recommending them different, suitable, tailored education and career pathways. Using this app, users would easily be able to explore and understand the variety of pathways available to them. This proposed solution directly addresses the problems found in existing platforms like MySkillsFuture, such as poor integration, inconsistency, low engagement, and lack of privacy. Our platform delivers a fully personalised and global education and career pathway for each individual. Additionally, by integrating data about global jobs and education, our app will be inclusive and accessible to people globally, and not limited to a singular country. Unlike the conventional quizzes used to find out the user’s traits and preferences, our app consolidates all the relevant information needed into a seamless, user-friendly experience, guiding them towards making confident and well-informed decisions about their futures.
Moreover, rather than just matching users to general job titles, the app focuses on foundational and crucial skillsets such as logical reasoning, verbal communication, quantitative literacy, critical thinking and reading comprehension. The AI will perform descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analysis to match users to job scopes, university majors, or learning opportunities based on their strengths, interests and skills.
Additionally, this platform does not just prepare one for one singular job, but for many different careers in the future.
