Background

The Education University of Hong Kong, in partnership with the Artificial Intelligence Research and Education Alliance (“The Organisers”), proudly presents the International Competition on Artificial Intelligence in Education 2025 (“The Competition”) designed to revolutionize the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. This competition serves as a platform for fostering collaboration and cooperation among students, educators, learners, researchers, and industry professionals, contributing significantly to the advancement of AI in education and paving the way for a more inclusive, innovative, and responsible global educational ecosystem.

Category & Eligibility

The competition will feature three categories based on participant affiliations. All categories are open to both individuals and teams. Each team can be formed of up to 4 teammates:

School
Category

Current students from Primary Grade 4 to 6 or Secondary 1 – 6 (or Grade 7 to 12)  in 2024/25

Higher Education
Category

Current students in Diploma, Higher Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral full-time programs offered by any tertiary institution, including freshman-to-be at time of enrolment

Open
Category

Other participants, age at 18 or above, including non full-time students, scholars, educators, professionals in the industry, etc. 

Remarks: 
1). If the team is a combination of full-time students and non-students, they should go for “Open Category”.

    • 2). Participants from different categories will be shortlisted, ranked, and awarded separately.
    • 3). For the School Category, each team must be registered to the competition through their responsible teacher. Each participant must gain their parent/guardian’s consent to participate in the competition.

FAQ

Usernames can consist of letters/numbers but cannot include punctuation marks. We recommend using your real name or a commonly used name for easier identification. Passwords must be 8 characters long and include both letters and numbers.

No, there will not be separate deadlines. This means that works need to be submitted after registration and before the submission deadline.

Participants need to identify a problem related to the four areas, and it is encouraged that this problem be linked to education. However, a problem with a weak connection to education is also acceptable, as long as it relates to the four areas (School, Community, Family, and Self-learning).

Yes, but overseas participants should sign in with a GitHub account when registering for PaddlePaddle AI Studio.
